The patterns are generated from various art-based source materials: drawings, paintings, photo contact sheets and digital images. Through a series of moves, the patterns are formed into either open (asymmetrical pictures) or closed (symmetrical pictures) systems. The finished artworks can be output on a variety of substrates, made into moving images or digital images for the web. Each pattern is completed first as a 13” x 19” print. This piece then becomes the “cell” for any subsequent expansion of the pattern. Therefore, the form is infinitely expandable.
