Today my father passed away in the company of loving family and friends after a long illness in Beckley, West Virginia. A few times I’ve shared with my various digital-connected communities the circumstances, mostly in the abstract. To put it briefly, for much of the past six months, my emotional concerns have often been focused elsewhere, apart from work, and as most of you who have experienced similar events in your own lives will understand, my attention to projects in process has at times lapsed. My mother passed away this time last year, and so the emotional intensity that attaches to one’s immersion in life-matters as potent as the loss of parents has been a regular companion of mine over this sun cycle now concluded. I am writing to thank all who have supported through these times, and for the patience of those who have kindly borne with my necessary - I don’t know what to call them - whatever you call it.
I’ll be in touch after the ceremony and Dad’s affairs are put in order. Where possible I’ll continue to do some posting and work. I find it helpful at times like these, somehow.
