About Issue 7 : IDENTITY :

Our identity is in the coding of DNA, in the information on passports, in the upkeep of social networking profiles; it is in the past and present of social and political history. Identity is the concept of the unique self, but it is also the concept of sameness that brings groups together through common ideology, biology, and culture.

In February, 2009 Cantanker Magazine will release Issue 7: Identity. In this issue, local and regional artists will explore this complex, often contradictory theme and its ever-expanding definition through explorations of alter-egos, clones, consumerism, and individuality and lack thereof, reflecting the bigger question of who we are.

About Cantanker :

Cantanker is committed to producing a visual art magazine that is a piece of art in itself, beautifully designed and inventive in its concept and structure. Our mission is to encourage a dialogue about art through written profiles, interviews, reviews and opinion pieces, and to introduce artists to the public by giving them an open venue, Project Space, to create innovative and experimental work.
